SIMBA

Kitten | Neutered Male | DOB: 4/19/2024
Domestic Short Hair | Gray Tabby | Fee: $300

Simba and his two littermates (the “Lion King kittens”) joined Camp Kitten in June. They were part of an unplanned litter, so we were happy to take them into rescue and get their mom and dad spayed/neutered!

Simba has been through an incredible journey! He was diagnosed with a condition called pectus excavatum when he was 8 weeks old. This means his ribcage and sternum were malformed and were compressing his heart and lungs. Without surgery, he would not survive. He ultimately required two surgeries at the University of Minnesota, as the first did not fully resolve his condition. The second surgery was successful and he has the all-clear to move forward in life!

Simba’s left lung is malformed, due to his condition. So he tends to breathe heavier after play than a typical kitten. But he does not let it slow him down, and he tends to self-limit when he needs a break. Because this condition is rare and this surgery has only been documented one other time, it’s hard to predict his prognosis, but the doctors see no reason why he won’t live a normal life. Though, it is important he has his annual vet exams to monitor his heart and lung sounds.

Simba has a wonderful personality. He is very affectionate and loves to be around people. He will spend his days exploring, but when everyone is hanging on the couch in the evenings, he does not want to miss out on the snuggles.

Simba loves every dog and cat he meets. He would do very well in a home with other pets. We are looking for a home with at least one other young cat or kitten, so he has a playmate.

Simba is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. He is being fostered in ANDOVER. If interested in meeting him please complete an adoption application on campkitten.com .
