Cholula and her littermates were born outside to a feral mama (dad was a neighbor’s pet, a Scottish Fold). A couple of Good Samaritans started feeding them and, once mama went missing, they caught them one-by-one and got them safely to us. These sweet babies DESERVE the good life, indoors, so we were thrilled to welcome them.
All seven kittens arrived to rescue completely terrified of humans. We have worked diligently to earn their trust, but they are still very timid with new people and will require time and effort in their new homes to continue teaching them humans are good and they are safe. They are all very treat-motivated and toy-motivated, so they will come out of hiding for the right snacks and entertainment!
Cholula is the sassiest kitten of the litter. She is still the most skittish and evasive when it comes to being picked up or pet. I “purrito” her in a little blanket everyday and she settles in and enjoys head scratches and snuggles. But the next time I approach her, she has forgotten about how much she enjoyed it. 🙂 She will need an adopter who is okay with this and prepared to invest time into earning her trust. She is still young and WILL come around to trust.
This crew has seen my small dogs (not interacted with them) and, so far, seems uninterested; I think they would do fine in a home with other pets with slow introductions. Kittens do best with a buddy – Camp Kitten requires kittens to be adopted in pairs if there isn’t already a young cat or kitten in the home.
